Dear Dr. Pastreich: I am very sorry to learn about your loss. Your tribute to Seung-Eun is beautiful and moving. May God look after you and your children at this difficult time. Sincerely, Jason
Thank you for the kind comment Jason. I am only now, after one day without her in this world, starting to understand who she really was. I had to revise the text again because I realized how little I understood about someone who had been that close to me for 25 years. It is one of life's mysteries.
You wrote a beautiful and moving public eulogy in a time of grief. It is a great tribute to your wife. I hope what you have written is especially meaningful to your children. Thank you for very much for publishing this.
Very, very sorry to hear of your loss!! What a beautiful and interesting person she was. I especially was impressed by her search for her Korean Buddhist roots & the silk road journey, and of course her familiar devotion. Myself having a 'thing' for Korean handicrafts, found her love of collecting vases et al quite interesting. Your column was so very sincere and heartfelt too, and having lost a daughter at 44 yrs. age to cancer just over a year ago, I can sympathize with you and also take comfort in hearing such words and thoughts which you expressed. So I thank you for writing that in what must be a tearful and difficult time! I wish I could say things like "time heals all wounds" but I still feel that life isn't all that fair and I can say that in memory of my daughter I suggested that her friends, etc, to implore the government to spend more on research toward early detection and prevention and cure of cancer. Sincerely Dennis O'Hare
P.S. Can you cite your Email address, I would like to comment on some of the ideas in your columns!!
My tears are falling for you and your family. What a beautiful tribute to your lovely wife and fabulous mother. It is very difficult to comprehend that the person you love has been taken away and it's a great shock. She was still so young. My sincere condolences to you and your children.
