Response to Donald Trump’s statement regarding the WHO.

The overwhelmingly positive and uncritical response to Donald Trump’s executive order to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization among so many of my colleagues has led me to the conclusion that a more critical and skeptical position is necessary. We are in danger, predictably, of being led into an enormous psychological operation wherein a few symbolic actions of seemingly positive import by the new dictatorship of the billionaires persuades those who should be brave truth tellers to look the other way as the architecture for tyranny is rolled into place and erected in silence as the crowd roars over the fantastic and ridiculous actions of the clown savior president.
Wait until you see what actually happens before you say anything.
Of course, everyone should be delighted that the infamous pandemic treaty is negated through this executive order. But we should be very careful in our enthusiasm because no fundamental reform is being proposed to address the deadly influence of billionaires, multinational banks, and multinational corporations on the Congress (now defunct) and the Executive through lobbyists, consultants, and recently, outright bribes. Nothing has changed structurally, and the corruption at the top is only worse. What we have is this piece of paper.
There is a push by the billionaires right now to use a few positive changes to justify the dictatorial rule of the United States by the executive and to use minor reforms as an excuse to end the role of Congress in the formulation and implementation of legislation in violation of the Constitution. The issue is not reforming Congress, or ending PACs (which Trump loves), but making the president a dictator.
The fact that the first executive orders may make sense does not justify the transformation of the nation into a tyranny. What the United States needs, but will never get from the trickster Trump, is an end to the effective military rule that has been in place beneath the surface since January of 2001. What Trump is doing is cementing into place the absolute rule, through the White House, of not just the upper middle class, not just the CEOs of major banks and corporations but the absolute rule of a handful of billionaires. Anyone praising this rule by executive orders while ignoring the reality of altering power structures in America, is not helping anyone.
The executive order assumes that there was a pandemic, that it started in Wuhan China, and that it was a failure of policy, not a massive psychological operation orchestrated by DARPA with help from elements in the military and intelligence in Israel, Germany, and yes also in China—all working with the super-rich.
The executive order attributes the problem to WHO’s “inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states” a line which assumes that it was nation states, not multinational banks, corporations, and billionaires who were behind this psychological operation, and implies that the “nation state” that was responsible was China, not the US, or Israel. DARPA’s work with WHO is not mentioned anywhere.
Although WHO is assumed to be problematic as an institution, it is also argued that China does not pay its due share, based on population, not income per capita. But this whole argument leaves out the manner in which WHO is run by pharmaceutical companies for profit and is not functional as a international agency run between nation states in the first place, and not a part of the United Nations. Nor is there a word about how WHO was used as a means to push through secret contracts and non-disclosure agreements between pharmaceutical companies and governments around the world which, to this day, have not been made public—often because the intelligence agencies coordinating the agreements made those documents classified.
Finally, the WHO is an extremely dangerous organization because it serves as a fig leaf, a shell company, that hides the nefarious deeds of private corporations, and pseudo foundations like the Gates Foundation, or pseudo international agencies like GAVI The Vaccine Alliance, which force vaccines on the population and treat propaganda and advertising like science. But having international organizations to help coordinate responses to disease is not a sin in itself. We need such organizations, but they have been destroyed over the last thirty years by the take over of non-profits by banks and corporations.
There is not any sign that Trump is taking steps that will get corporations out of the healthcare business either. And his recent dinner with Bill Gates suggests that he is as committed to the agenda today as he was back when he launched “Operation Warp Speed” to develop untested experimental drugs to try out on the population, starting with the poorest and most venerable, at the end of his last term. Gates stated that Trump “in the COVID days, accelerated the vaccine innovation, so I was asking him if maybe the same kind of thing could be done here, and we both got, I think, pretty excited about [vaccines for HIV and polio].”
EXECUTIVE ORDER
January 20, 2025
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:
Section 1. Purpose. The United States noticed its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 due to the organization’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, and other global health crises, its failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states. In addition, the WHO continues to demand unfairly onerous payments from the United States, far out of proportion with other countries’ assessed payments. China, with a population of 1.4 billion, has 300 percent of the population of the United States, yet contributes nearly 90 percent less to the WHO.
Sec. 2. Actions. (a) The United States intends to withdraw from the WHO. The Presidential Letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations signed on January 20, 2021, that retracted the United States’ July 6, 2020, notification of withdrawal is revoked.
(b) Executive Order 13987 of January 25, 2021 (Organizing and Mobilizing the United States Government to Provide a Unified and Effective Response to Combat COVID–19 and to Provide United States Leadership on Global Health and Security), is revoked.
(c) The Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs shall establish directorates and coordinating mechanisms within the National Security Council apparatus as he deems necessary and appropriate to safeguard public health and fortify biosecurity.
(d) The Secretary of State and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall take appropriate measures, with all practicable speed, to:
(i) pause the future transfer of any United States Government funds, support, or resources to the WHO;
(ii) recall and reassign United States Government personnel or contractors working in any capacity with the WHO; and
(iii) identify credible and transparent United States and international partners to assume necessary activities previously undertaken by the WHO.
(e) The Director of the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy shall review, rescind, and replace the 2024 U.S. Global Health Security Strategy as soon as practicable.
Sec. 3. Notification. The Secretary of State shall immediately inform the Secretary-General of the United Nations, any other applicable depositary, and the leadership of the WHO of the withdrawal.
Sec. 4. Global System Negotiations. While withdrawal is in progress, the Secretary of State will cease negotiations on the WHO Pandemic Agreement and the amendments to the International Health Regulations, and actions taken to effectuate such agreement and amendments will have no binding force on the United States.
Sec. 5. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:
(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.
(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.
(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
THE WHITE HOUSE,
January 20, 2025.
It's always good to hear your voice of reason. So many are ecstatic about Trump taking these steps. But as you and I know, they are all a smokescreen. How quickly people forget.
Trump also left the WHO in mid-2020 and then just redirected what was once funding for WHO to the Gates-funded GAVI vaccine alliance. So leaving the WHO is far from the slam dunk some are seling it as, especially considering Gates' recent comments on Trump's enthusiasm for his "vaccine innovation" proposals.
