Interesting article, and I agree with the points made here on a theoretical level. I’m having trouble with this one from a practical standpoint…

“taxes can be used to pay for a government that investigates billionaires and locks them up for their crimes.”

How would that work? Government is corruptible and will always end up corrupted. Perhaps we could re-set government with a major revolution, but it seems that the billionaire-class is always in control of the government and will, therefore, never allow their crimes to be investigated.

Even so-called libertarians who call out e.g. crony capitalism or corporate welfare can't ever seem to see the contradiction that it is only the enforcement of the state which ensures the integrity of their sacrosanct private property "rights" -- as though enclosure weren't a form of theft. I can never figure out whether it's true cognitive dissonance or a willful deception.

I agree totally. Thank you for the insight. However, as you have suggested, I believe that there are forms of libertarianism, such as social libertarianism, which are close to the ideal civilization. You hit it on the nose, saying that they have no solutions.

I do, and they are in my books to read for free by signing up for my newsletter.
