It seems that an honest assessment must acknowledge that Hamas has been a totalitarian regime and has been responsible for squandering repeated opportunities to pursue a better direction and for making their primary mission the elimination of Jews and Jewish state. Rather than creating and nurturing a structure for bettering the long term prospects of their people and setting the example of a free, productive, and prosperous state, it seems that they have deliberately constructed and carefully nurtured a state designed for one nefarious and heinous purpose. Talib has overtly and tacitly endorsed those priorites and plans complemented by subversive approaches at home. Totalitarianism is as totalitarianism does and is vile in all its forms. Unfortunately it is evolving in tandem with desires to preserve a society and culture that, while imperfect, seeks to restrain the dark side of our nature, even as the masses and the politicians who "represent" them actively seek to harness that dark side in creating a beast of central state control which undermines our "inalienable rights." This struggle is eternal and demands our vigilance. Declarations and pronouncements to promote human and individual rights need to be viewed through that lens.
